Each bullet point is further described below, and we also provide some general marketing hints at the bottom of this page as well.

Opt-in E-mail Lists
It's pretty easy to understand what an e-mail list is... it's simply a list of people's names and e-mail addresses that can be used to send personalized messages. An opt-in e-mail list is very similar, but with a small twist:

Visitors to your web site have added themselves to your mail list because they have specifically requested to receive further information about your product or service.

Goosedown Graphics can design an opt-in e-mail system for your web site, and set it up so you can manage it yourself.

Bulk E-mail
This method of marketing is similar to opt-in lists, in that you send an e-mail to all the people on a particular list. The difference here is that although the people on the list have expressed an interest in the type of product or service you provide, they have probably never visited your site or even heard of your company.

The reason it is OK to send them e-mail is because they have given their permission to a third party (in fact, the same folks you can lease a bulk list from) to disseminate their information - name, e-mail address, etc. - to business like yours.

Goosedown Graphics does not (and will not) participate in sending unwelcome spam to third parties. We don't appreciate it when we get spammed, and suspect you don't either! We try to be a good e-neighbor and do the right thing.

E-zines
E-zines are a new twist on an existing idea... sending newsletters via e-mail. Depending upon your needs, e-zines can be sent on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, and because e-mail is basically free, the practice of sending e-zines instead of hard copy newsletters via the postal service can save your business thousands of dollars.

Search Engine Submission
This is a pretty big topic. See this page once you're finished reading this one.

Banner Ads
Goosedown Graphics can create a custom banner ad to promote your product, service, or web site. We make static and dynamic ads that catch the eye and demand click-through.

Web Statistics
Being able to see which pages in your web site are visited the most (or least) can give you some concrete evidence regarding changes that are needed to improve your web site. If you host with us, we'll send you a free monthly synopsis of the visits to your web site; with this information, you'll also be able to see who is linking your site and which search engines are sending you the most traffic.

E-Press Releases
Wouldn't it be great if your company's news release ended up on someone else's web site? If your company regularly submits press releases to the printing world, you should also be doing the same thing on the web. Goosedown Graphics can submit your news releases to electronic posting systems nationwide.

Other Ideas
There's literally a whole host of other ideas you can employ to increase your site's visibility, including viral marketing (ever see the "Get Your Free E-mail Account at HotMail" tag line on the bottom of an e-mail sent by someone with a HotMail account?) and affiliate marketing (giving someone a percentage of a sale because of a lead they provided). The possibilities are endless!

What Else Can I Do To Promote My Business?
Just because you have a killer web site doesn't mean people will knock your door down to buy your goods or services. Instead, a web site is supposed to be a part of an overall strategy to put your name in front of potential clients and customers.

Here are some other off-line things you can do to help promote your business:

  • Adopt a central theme to promoting your business - This means that all printed, video, and audio material regarding your company reflects a similar message. Use the same logos and slogans everywhere, including (but certainly not limited to) letterhead, invoices, envelopes, business cards, signage and other promotional items such as pens, Frisbees, magnets and other goodies.
  • Communicate with your existing customers on a regular basis. Your current clients are your best form of advertisement. Word of mouth on the street by satisfied customers is an extremely powerful way to gain new prospects.
  • If you don't have any customers, buy a mailing list and send a letter or postcard to potential clients.
  • Read what other people are doing to be successful. Go to the library or local book store and find out new ways to market yourself. Join targeted e-mail discussion lists or newsgroups and learn the secrets of your competitors.
  • Hire a PR or ad firm to coordinate your advertising campaign. They'll have great ideas and can help obtain discounts for display advertising.
  • Join your local chamber of commerce
  • Hook up with the guys from S.C.O.R.E.
  • Get an ad in the yellow pages if it's appropriate to your industry.
  • Join a civic organization and serve it well. Your reputation will follow you to the workplace. Don't attempt to make it your own version of a "leads" club. Not cool.

These are just a few marketing ideas; please contact us and we'll be happy to talk with you concerning how we can help you reach your target market.
